Fabric Magazine Files

This post was written on April 6th, 2011

In an effort to add more color to the interior of my house, I’ve been adding little accents here and there. I’m working on a very small project in the kitchen and needed a few magazine files. What a perfect way to add some fun color and pattern! Girl and I headed to the craft store yesterday with my color palette in mind; orange, yellow, green, and NO red (I’m really sick of red). The fabric I found, which I really like, has bright pink in it. I hesitated just for one second. Only because I’ve NEVER added pink when decorating. But I love it!

Items needed:

Spray Adhesive
Fabric (I purchased 2 yards which was enough to cover 4 magazine files AND another small project)
Sharp craft scissors
fabric glue
cardboard magazine files
Measuring tap

The seam of my fabric is on the back side edge. I folded over the raw edge and applied fabric glue to seal it. Put the seam on whatever side will be facing away from view. I wanted to be able to quickly see my food magazines and not have to take the file out every time. So I’ll be using the small section as the front.

I love this! Looks better than something you could buy in the store. You’re so creative!

What a wonderful idea…I know what I’m doing on a rainy day!

Just make sure and cover EVERYTHING before using the spray adhesive. Not that doing it outside here would be any better; it’s always so dang windy!
