Share Your Gifts: Week Four

This post was written on February 16th, 2011

I found a great way to communicate with my kids while shopping for a birthday card at Hallmark a few weeks ago. Two of my three kids communicate very well & by that I mean they still tell me a lot about their day. But I’m slowly losing one of them to teen boy syndrome… so I take advantage of any way that helps me to find out more about them and how they are doing.

My gift share this week is for my kids AND you all. I’ve been giving these cards to my kids, mainly Tween, for the last two weeks. We don’t speak about them– just fill them out and hand out. I love getting them back with their responses.

You can make your own. Come up with some questions and print them off on card stock…. have fun with it. The more serious the questions the least likely they’ll be to get into it. One of my favorite cards in the deck says “Sometimes I wish I had a re-wind button, here is something I would have done differently…..”  What a great way to be honest with your kids about your own mistakes.

Did you use your gifts or talents this week to help someone else? If so, I’d love to hear about it here! Share your gifts!

Love the cards! I have a 10 year old daughter and got us a mom & daughter journal for Christmas. I’m not good at talking, but can writing my feelings out. It’s worked out great for us and think it’s a good buffer for them to talk about things they might not feel comfortable talking about while looking you in te eye :)

    Thanks for sharing.

The journal is a great idea! My oldest son and I used to do that, we’d leave the journal underneath each others pillow when we had something to say or ask.

Sugarmama, dropped by to give you a little love at @ThetaMom’s bequest and I have to say I love your stuff and especially those cards. Will definitely try with my increasingly non communicative tweenie girls :(

Keep up the great posts, I’ll be reading!
