Christmas Home Tour
This post was written on December 13th, 2010Because I run a daycare in my home, I have to keep decorations minimal. I dream of the day that I can put up my nativity scenes, Christmas villages, and breakable ornaments. In fact, I have several totes of decorations that I don’t even bother to open anymore due to the 7 little people that run around my home all day. But I do have fun with the trees.
We put up 3 trees. I would put up 10 if I had the space. Wait! Maybe I can make space by removing some furniture??? That is how much I love a Christmas tree. It brings instant “holiday” to a home.
For the tour I’m sharing a few ornaments from each tree. I look forward to seeing the other homes on the “tour”. I have a file folder FILLED with ideas for the one day I can go all out decorating!
The mouse ornament is from Hallmark, 1984. It is one of the first ornaments I remember on our tree as a child, so it’s my very favorite ornament.
The Fairy Godmother ornament was given to me by my mom. When I first saw it I was confused by it’s meaning… but it has become one of my very favorite ornaments. The daycare kids laugh at it every time. Woodstock & Snoopy are also from my childhood Christmas tree.
This tree sits in one of the daycare rooms, and it’s the “chic tree” that Girl and I decorate. It is by far one of the funnest trees to buy ornaments for! If you look closely you can see birthday presents wrapped underneath. Tween & Girl both have b’days in December, so this is now the birthday present tree. This is a pre-lit tree and was originally used as the Dallas Cowboy tree with blue lights. Sugar Daddy removed every single blue light and replaced with pink. Have I ever told you how incredibly patient he is?
The Dallas Cowboys tree sits in the theater room in the basement, along with all of the other DC stuff. Sugar Daddy, Teen, & Tween decorate this tree. We now use it as our main tree for opening presents Christmas morning. Santa leaves his gifts under the living room tree unwrapped. Then we head down to the basement to open the rest of the gifts. I use blue and silver wrapping paper… so fun!
Merry Christmas! And Happy Decorating!

I love ornaments and feel the same way,… except our reason is condo living and it’s usually furnished so we barely have room for our belongings…and i box everything away for the day we own a big house again….i still shop after Christmas and grab all the clearance ones: ) that fairy godmother is awesome! love it! how pretty they all are! have a gorgeous day!
